Poetry Group: Youth and Initiative.

The Poetry Group is an excellent initiative, driven by some enthusiastic young poets. Killorglin is remarkable in its wealth of creative and musical talent, and here is yet another example of youngsters making a great contribution to the wider community. Lead by Sinead Sweeney, they are creating a regular opportunity for aspiring poets of all ages to read their own work, in a supportive situation; and for poetry enthusiasts to contribute with readings of their own favourite poems whether classics, traditional or obscure.

Chapel Arts Group:

This is another new initiative to encourage the development of creative writing in and around the local community. This groups first year was tremendously successful. There were very good numbers attending all the meetings, and Tommy Frank O'Connor's guidance played a huge part in cementing a successful foundation for the future. Congratulations to Michael & Edso on the great start that was made...and best wishes for continuing success.

Knibs:

Knibs meet regularly on Thursday mornings in Killorglin library. Meetings are scheduled to start at 11.00am and finish at 12.30pm. You are advised that these times are APPROXIMATE.

Original Writing:

We are show-casing just a handful of original work here, and the items may change from time to time. At present, we are not planning a forum. There are already lots of fine poetry forums on the internet for those who like to work in that way. Any-one who would like to be involved locally can contact us by e-mail, or by attending one of our regular meetings. We would be delighted to hear from any one who might be interested in being involved. If you want to know more about the Poetry Group, or the Chapel Arts Group, we would be happy to forward an e-mail address for you, to help make initial contact.
